Home charge points
A 7kW wall-mounted unit on a dedicated circuit, sited where you actually park. We run the cable, protect the circuit correctly and commission the charger before we leave.
Home and workplace charge points installed properly: surveyed first, run on their own protected circuit, commissioned on the day and certified. Covering Edinburgh, the Lothians and everywhere our vans already go.

If you have solar PV, a compatible charger can prioritise surplus generation and charge the car on your own electricity rather than imported units. We install the panels, the battery and the charger, so it all talks to each other.
Multiple charge points for staff, visitors or vans, with load management so the site supply is not overloaded. Free-standing pedestals and three-phase units where the parking has no wall to mount on.
Many older Edinburgh properties need the consumer unit or earthing arrangement bringing up to standard before a charger can go in. We do that work in-house rather than sending you to another contractor.
Most EV charger quotes go wrong in the same place: nobody looked at the incoming supply before pricing the job. An older Edinburgh property may have an earthing arrangement that needs upgrading, a consumer unit with no spare way, or a main fuse that will not carry a 7kW load alongside a shower and an electric hob.
So we survey first. We check the supply, the board, the earthing and the cable route from the board to where the car actually sits. Then you get a fixed written quote covering everything, including any upgrade work. On installation day there is nothing left to discover.
The same standard whether it is one home charger or twelve bays at a business park.
Every charge point is installed to BS 7671 and the relevant EV charging regulations, then certified and notified. You get the paperwork, not just the hardware.
“They removed 3 old storage heaters and installed 3 new night storage heaters and it was excellent service from start to finish. Couldn't fault anything. Richard the electrician was brilliant.”
“I recently had my storage heaters upgraded and couldn't be happier with the service. Culbertson were easy to deal with from start to finish — everything was clear and well-organised.”
“Great and efficient service”
A straightforward 7kW home charge point on an existing supply is the most common job and the most predictable price. Costs rise where the consumer unit needs upgrading, where the cable run is long, or where the supply needs an earthing upgrade. We confirm all of that at survey and give you a fixed written quote before anything is booked in.
Yes, in almost every case. We need to see the incoming supply, the consumer unit, the earthing arrangement and the route from the board to where the car parks. It is a short visit and it is what stops surprises appearing on the day of installation.
It depends on where you park and who owns that ground. Where there is a dedicated allocated bay and the factor or owners association agrees, it is usually possible. On-street parking with no allocated bay generally is not, because the cable cannot legally cross a public footway. Tell us your situation and we will give you a straight answer.
We install untethered and tethered units from the main manufacturers, including load-balancing models that protect your main fuse and solar-aware models that can charge from surplus PV generation. If you already have solar or battery storage we will recommend a charger that talks to it.
The OZEV grant is now limited to flat owners and renters rather than owner-occupiers of houses, and Scottish schemes change from time to time. We will tell you what is currently open when you enquire rather than promising something that has closed.
Yes. We install single and multiple charge points for workplaces, developments and commercial premises, including free-standing pedestals and three-phase units, with the distribution work to feed them.
